Do You Need to Carry out Surveying Work on Canada Lands?

Only a Canada Lands Surveyor may survey all lands located in the Yukon Territory, the Northwest Territories, the National Parks of Canada, which belong to His Majesty in right of Canada or which the Government of Canada has the right to alienate, as well as lands that are either lands ceded to reserves within the meaning of the Indian Act, or Category IA or IA-N lands within the meaning of the Cree-Naskapi Act of Quebec, as well as any land covered by water that belongs to His Majesty.

The Minister surveys federal lands at the request of the Department of the Government of Canada.

 

People of all cultures mark the boundaries of their plots of land on the ground. These boundaries exist for economic, social or security purposes. The Canada Lands surveying system provides the framework and infrastructure to define, mark and describe such boundaries on Canada Lands and private lands.
